The Eight Invertebrate Phylum
Invertebrates are animals that do not have a backbone. They are classified in the kingdom of Animalia. All of the different phyla have different characteristics about them. They can reproduce sexually or asexually, some can swim and some sit on rocks or the ocean bottom for their whole life. All invertebrates obtain food differently, some have a mouth, and others have a beak. The eight different phyla are, Porifera, Cnidarians, Platyhelminthes, Nematoda, Annelida, Echinodermata, Mollusca, and Arthropoda. Invertebrates either reproduce sexually or asexually. If they reproduce sexually that means that each parent contributes genes. If they reproduce asexually that means that the parent makes a copy of itself.
